Learning another language is always a wonderful and challenging experience. If you consider language to be an art form in itself, then I am sure you will have a greater appreciation for it.
I believe that to fully appreciate your own language, you must fully explore another. As I live in Japan, and use Japanese everyday - my conversing skills are gradually getting better. Learning Japanese has enabled me to re-explore the English language and appreciate its beauty and use of syntax on a far deeper level.
I think a big difference perhaps between Japanese and English (apart from the obvious), is that when writing or speaking, the Japanese tend to use the most polite way of expressing themselves. Whereas in England, we tend to try to use most sophisticated sentence structures, and then politeness follows after.
You can never truly and fully understand another person's culture or thinking, without knowing their language. _________________ Chouwa - Harmony
